Death & Taxes

jackson is dead...get over it
Been pondering the Trail of Tears lately and coincidentally happened upon a powerful passage about it while reading Sarah Vowell's brilliant collection of essays: Take the Canoli. Vowell's crisp wit in response to historically sensitive material is really refreshing. The book as well as research of the fiasco that was the decimation of the Cherokee nation have got me thinking about America, the foundation of this nation, and the challenges we will continue to face as more ingredients are added to the melting pot. Truth is we can't be united...Theres too many facets, too many fundamentally incompatible factors. Like a poorly matched couple that stays together because there is comfort in numbers and the sex is steady and moderately enjoyable. Each side just sort of existing to resent everything the other does. forgetting the bigger picture and that they once found joy in themselves apart from the union. but i digress.. I've been realizing slowly that the best thing i could do for this country (my love) would be to leave it. My waivering position between apathy and "free thinker" opposition isn't helping anything.
